Random Digestions

No, nothing to do with food here.
Been to the pc fair last friday held at KL Convention Center(KLCC).
Yea, hell the fair was HUGE. And yea alot of beautiful showgirls and more than ever pesky salespeeps.
Met Fook Sam and Kershia there. Fook Sam was already leaving when I was entering. I met Kershia just by stepping in the fair for a few minutes. Sounds like a pretty small world.
And after much consideration, I bought laptop skins :D

Feels a lil of vertigo huh? Cast the pic upside down(i had bad lighting). That's my laptop skin which my roomie Quan helped put up for me. He did a really satisfying job with the rounded edges. And the mouse just beside is Verbatim's RapierV1(orV2 forgot liaw -.-") with 3200 dpi and adjustable weights. It's a really bulky mouse but it's to my liking. I mean who cares bout how a mouse looks like. Just gotta prove its usefulness in gaming aye? >:D

This here is the one I bought for my friends which i equally like. had such a dilemma choosing..

Ow and here's my french Mecanique lecturer i took a picture with:
ici, il est Monsieur Fabien. His shirt really geng man xD he talks really fast in english and deafening in french. fortunately he still teaches in english for now. prob is he's usually late or postponing classes. and he's already postponed our mecha exams for over a month(and still ongoing) -.-" but he's a really really really nice guy :D

And err here's the twin towers of Petronas. Wonder how I took it slanting. My camera must had been faulty. Kinda like the Twin Leaning Towers of KL.

Sorry no focus on a particular topic here. Just being random haha. Just finished french exams and still moping over it :'( so my mind still isnt in the right state yet. arggh i must rush, got friends laughing here -.-"
Tchao guys!

Drama Trauma - Ow really?

Back from the mid-sem break and what we got was misery business apart from running around helter-skelter. This was most probably due to uncompleted assignments which was meant to obviously be done during the break. What was more terrorizing was that they had to be handed in pretty soon. More suppressing news that opted us to be in panic mode or stress delight was the English drama which was to be hosted 4 days from the break. We haven't practised much... or kinda haven't even gone near serious.
Luckily, after being prompted to do so, I managed to get by the assignments thanks to the guys who already did them. But it wasn't as easy as copying blindly, I had to do some checking just in case there was a miscalculation. This meant I had to spend more time looking up info from books and notes. At least I left less guilty after doing those :P

As for the drama? We had 3 nights to practise.
-1st night was like professionals at it's 1st work. Time duration was 9pm-11.30pm. I wasn't there to view them due to heldback for a club's meeting. But I came in late and only managed to practise 1 round only t.t It was only a warm up!
-2nd night started later abit at 10pm-12am. This is most likely due to my unavailability in attending earlier time spans. As for the reason - my club wants me to take care of their booth in recruiting new members. When I got to the training grounds, we didn't perform very well the moment we started voicing. We were still holding on to our dear scripts and haven't even thought about positionings or emotions yet. Then after 3 rounds of practice, we were exhausted early due to the fact that the air-conditioner's external unit was turned off. The weird part was that that particular external unit wasn't releasing hot air but more like cool fanning.
That's when Yeo said,"Come let's go V5 eat, Erfi drive" We all agreed on that. When we got into the car, Yeo said "Woaho, Schumacher." I responded,"I thought Schumacher retired?" "No, he's here," and pointed to Erfi. That's when he hit reverse gear and spun around the curve. Going down the vertical was a slide as we were shoved to the side by centripetal forces. Fortunately, Bui was in the front seat and got to see every edge of the curves while screaming "WOOOI" every now and then throughout the drive. There are a number of curves in UTP. I was in the middle and got the view of a 3D simulation of a roller coaster, Yeo and Rafiq were at my sides to cushion my falls. So we made it 'safely' to V5 - Erfi tried to overtake a Kancil in a one-lane road but failed to do so. Still a close shave and made us shout "wtf Erfi! Chill man! We're there already!" So after getting cooled down with supper and mango juice, we were forced back to our village/dorm to the common room to give out a last round of practice for the night. Reluctant we may be but we still did it, even though we were distracted by Channel V at times. There was a part Yeo was suppose to say " This lamb chop is the bomb!" but instead he said "This TV is the bomb!" We were pretty much down for the count then.
-3rd night same time as 10pm but things started getting more desperate. We were more hyped in getting things done - props, makeup?, costume, slides, vocals and stuffs! This time we emphasized on character positioning, adding abit more sense into face and body expressions as well as throwing our voices since no mic was allowed. I found that part difficult as our English tutor who will be judging our perfomances was sitting a distant away from the stage. I was playing a ghoul-like-hunchedback-raspy-roughed voice character where I have to use my throat and my nose to speak. We practised a few serious rounds (still there was comedy which just couldn't be helped) and after that we hit the hay, knowing we need our rests.

Performance day - Our drama was held in the afternoon, a pretty warm one as the air-conditioning was in a terrible heated up condition. Yeo, Erfi, Jonathan were dressed decently like gentlemen. On the other hand, Bui and Hafiq had gone feminine. I had a pillow on my back and had to quiver from time to time.
Our storyline was altered from shortstory The Landlady by Roald Dahl and my what heck of a story that was. Yeo wrote the 1st 4 scenes, Bui wrote the last scene, I compiled and edited them, adding language correction, grammar and vocab as well as sarcasm to spice things up. Our English tutor seemed to like it - she wrote 'interesting script' when we got it checked.
The story pictures 2 young gentlemen who stayed in an inn, owned by an old lady with her helper, and got murdered. Their bodies were never found and so, 2 years later a couple passed by and the wife insisted that they should stay there for a night. But then the wife was murdered and hidden away by the old lady. The helper tried to warn the husband earlier but he was ignorant. The death of the helper and the wife made the husband realise he has to end this madness. So we added in some supernatural stuffs. The spirit of the wife came back to inform her husband to be careful of the old lady's trickeries. Then the 2 young gentlemen materialized to watch the scenes. I joined in soon only after the death of the the old lady being killed by the husband. But it didn't end there, I came only too late to warn the husband that the old lady was able to possess objects beside her upon her death. So poof, the husband became evil. 5 people perished, 1 turned away from good. Bad ending like all horror stories :/
Although we practised, things always don't come perfect easily. We had technical problems with the sound system and had a delay. We also started off smoothly until some points there were miscoordinations. Like when Bui should've gone to the kitchen to prepare food, he went to the lounge and waited there. Or when I should've been out there on the scene, I was beside the stage looking at the script seeing what comes next in the scene - ironic.
There was a time when Bui was suppose to appear after a change in scene. I narrated "After a while, the lady came back with her wallet" (It should've been 'came back with her specs' but Bui forgot to take them off earlier and he mentioned 'she' went to get 'her' wallet before the scene change - bummer, what does an old lady at an inn got to do with forgetting her wallet!) and we waited. Poor Jonathan was acting like an old man trying to lift a box off the ground for quite some time. Obviously Jonathan couldn't buy enough time of acting to tell the audience that we're experiencing a problem. About 1 minute later, Bui showed up and the show continued. What was his reason for the delay?
Boobs adjustment...
At some parts, we were too fast for line responses - didn't look natural but more to get it and done. And of course a part when Bui was on the brink of laughter from his habit since mimicking his voice to be a shrilled 'old'/young lady seems hardwork. That's when he was suppose to say his lines to Yeo, the husband. Desperation has enough courage for Yeo to point at Bui while repeating "No, No, NO" under his breath, smiling and nearly breaking down into laughter after being spread from Bui. I was at the side laughing away at these slip-ups. Nearing the end, there was suppose to be a short pause when Yeo's body was to be possessed by the lady as he falls down for a moment. We all as 4 ghosts gathered around, awaiting Yeo to get up and finish his last lines so that we can make the scene an end to it all. Awkwardly,we waited with no actions or emotions, as if there was a lag phase. We were all thinking like "Yeo, you better not be sleeping now!" Then he got up and said his lines then ran up the stairs, fell down with a "Aiyak" attached to it.
That ended our play in the hot environment as we removed all our costumes in sweat. Hafiq managed to make some good slides and movies for the credits and intros. Erfi did well on his sarcasm and gentleman part. Yeo did some good acting as a protagonist. Bui managed well on his part as an old lady being a half witch. I just couldn't help smiling even when I was being killed by the old lady in one scene. Sounds like a quote from Warcraft III DotA's Queen of Pain: Die smiling :D

Well that's that for this semester's English drama presentation, just hope we can fair well with grades. Got lots to talk about but time is a factor for everything.
PS: Congrats to Rol and his team on winning the 1st round in his DotA league.
Until then, au revoir everyone!

Treasured/Scribbles

Yosha everyone!

Recently last Thursday my uni held a "French-speaking Day" or "Le Jour Francophonie", an open convention in our Perdana Hall for the public especially secondary schools to promote my uni's "professionalism" in the language.

And there were performances from our uni, but hell can hardly understand their french, it's like they're speaking italian instead. Only students from the France Collaboration Programme (the course im taking) sounded decent x)

Besides, there were exhibitions of other famous aftifacts or monuments of France like of course the Eiffel Tower(one made in plasticine, others out of metal frames and even one made from satay sticks!) I saw an article bout the Moulin Rouge and just realized that it's REALLY an infamous nightclub with its own legends of the nightlife and deaths.

Then I ran my eyes across self-made posters, teaching people of basic words in french and its scary verb conjugations. One particular huge card depicting a huge family tree with pictures of celebrities and famous people playing the roles of mother, father, brother, cousin etc in the family branches...
Then I saw this...^(note the circled picture with the quote "une petite amie"...and yes the SWT?!! I would write WTF!?? but I thought of the children that might come across this blog :))

I believe that is Michelle Dee up there. hahahaha you know, the president of Interact Club in CH Miri of 2007/08. Question is how the...ok how did she end up there XD
For all I know she's not studying in my uni thats for sure. Plus the photo of her is like that of magazine or newspaper quality. So I thought "Wow, hey that's my classmate! She's a celebrity now? o.O". My friend Koon Soon was gaping at her prettiness and I had to slap him out of it :)
And hehe "une petite amie" in french to english means "a girlfriend". "un petit amie" would be a boyfriend.

hahaha an awesome find! Michelle is even more popular now because Koon Soon keeps pestering me for her. hahahaha!

Ok another thing unrelated, yesterday we had our math lecture and a new lecturer, Mr.Khalid took over instead. He's not exactly new, we've known his since our first semester. But then he was too busy with our seniors that we had to swap lecturers. Now that our seniors are off to France, he's back for us.

Hell, he looks like a simple man seriously but what works in his mind is are gears turning at the speed of light. He's a friggin math genius.

We started the lecture about trigonometry(the horrible angles of triangular equations) And he needed not any documents or papers to aid him in his lecture. All he had were 2 whiteboard markers which he juggled occasionally. He wrote notes about simple cosine and sine angles, explaining their relationship etc.

The whiteboard was small and we scribbled as he wrote notes. But as we go on, it gets harder to comprehend. He would make up sudden unrelated equations and proved their equivalence. We were all stumped. And there he was happily writing to the bottom of the whiteboard
and then jumping to the top with an eraser and ERASED THE TOP HALF already without even bother asking us. We had to furiously and fastly scribble the notes as he was explaining happily his godlike theories. The more he explained, the more jolly he seemed as he got into the blithe of playing with numbers and angles and greek symbols.

We noted that we're actually doing our masters in maths now because we're having a Phd. holder/math genius/insane lecturer teaching us.

He kept asking "Ok?" after his philosophical explanations and we would(half of us at least) shake our heads, then he would gleefully reply "Ok" and jump to the whiteboard to write down more formulas. Then he applied the theories practically into questions which he wants us to solve in 30seconds then he said "So help me (solve this)" directing the order at us and I muttered "And God help us..."

I managed to keep up with his lecture apart from copying down all his notes successfully and constantly drawing the circles of radius 1 to prove their comparabilities. My roomie wanted to borrow the notes from me. I noted that he recopied EVERYTHING he had written and from my part of the notes.
Then I asked "Why rewrite everything?"
Nelson: cuz my handwriting ugly mar, just now so rush writing the notes.
Hayden: Dude, it's your own writing, there's no need to waste time since you're the only one best who knows how to read your own handwriting.
Nelson: Aiya it's like looking at girl ma, takkan you wanna see ugly girl right.
Hayden: YOU'RE COMPARING YOUR HANDWRITING TO LOOKING AT GIRLS? YOU GET HIGH BY LOOKING AT YOUR OWN HANDWRITING?!?!

hahahaha followed by bursts of laughter!

anyways hope that crap I delievered was amusing enough. Thanks for reading everyone!

23 hours

First and foremost, I bid a very warm greeting and salutations to all potatoslammers and readers of this humble blog. It has been a very long time since I posted an article myself and apologies for such that this blog is like a dead blog. I do however come here whenever I have the chance. It’s really hard to get internet here. Although we do not crave for attention, PLEASE DO NOT FORGET US! >:D

Ahem - So the morning began with a friday 8am wakeup call from my handphone but I was already half awake half an hour earlier caused by the rays of sunshine that seep through my room curtains. The cold morning shower definitely did not help calm my nerves. Class started from 8.30am kicking off with French lessons and ending with Math lecture till 1pm. Friday’s the best because I have the least lessons on that day. Everyone here does. So I ate lunch, which consists of only 2 roti canai <- small appetite.

My Arabian lecturer came over and said, “So that’s enough for your lunch eh?” to which I could only reply bluntly “Yea!” and smiled. Gotta love them roti canais! Apparently the foreign lecturers believe that the hearts of Malaysians lie in the large amount of food they eat! :)

My jaw became sore after lunch. Damage dealt by the cold roti canai, an alternative way to chew gum thanks. Ok, 2pm maybe I could get some rest. Apart from being disturbed by incoming smses and chatter of roommates, my rest was........ was cut really short when one of my teammates named Muz called me 30mins later, saying “Masa dah sampai. Cepatlah! Saya di bawah.” So I got ready and called up my other teammates.

DOTA match:
Muz drove us to a nearby cybercafé at which we waited 15mins for the other team to arrive. I did not expect much of this besides losing. Muz was the captain. Don’t know why not me :/ and so we played 2 dota draft games against the other team who was from a renowned university. Lost both mainly due to the reason that one of our teammates left twice because the computers there were so rotten that they could crash ever so often for a price of 2.50/hr -.-"

A few other reasons we lost because proly there was a lack of cooperation among our team. pffft it was assembled for not more than a few days before and we barely practised with each other: 2 Malays and 3 Chinese. And proly because I did not give any commands to lead the team since I’m the one who usually call the shots....ok always..hey I thought the captain would do it but he did not.

We were all playing selfish! XD overall it was boring and poorly played. And what makes it more irritating is that after every game, Muz and the other team would step out and smoke a round of cigarettes while we “burn” our money. The other team wasn’t that good in skill to be frank, just that they had cooperation that makes them whole.

But I kept laughing at the mistakes we made and the unbelievable stunts we could pull off such like my noob teammates could do something amazingly pro so I knew those moments weren’t a waste! xD

With that done it was around 6pm already when I got back. The whole of Pre-france 7 students knew of our match and haha we lost! Like terribly to the students of GMI (some german mara institute). So I took my shower, dinner, and then played one round of dota with friends until midnight struck. That’s when it was time for FUTSAL!

*6hours ago*
Koon Soon: Hey Hayden wanna play futsal with us later?
Hayden: errr..
Koon Soon: Today bah we play against seniors.
Hayden: See first ba cuz I really suck at football.
Koon Soon: Nevermind la cuz now we not enough players, think only 8 people. Need 2 more. Hayden: Hmm, what time arh?
Koon Soon: 1am to 3am
Hayden: ONE AM TO THREE AM(WTF)WHY SO LATE??? Ok sure count me in.

FUTSAL match:
Muz drove us to a futsal court nearby our uni. So there were like 5 chinese and 10 malays from pre-france 7 to play against our seniors from pre-france 6 and 2 lecturers. When I got there, there were 4 courts but all fully occupied.

Futsal is like football played in a small court nearly the size of a basketball court. The style of rules they played here is that there is no outline, unless the ball is kicked towards outlines of goals. There’s no corner kicks and you can use walls to your advantage. And here it’s possible to score a goal from halfcourt range. A total of 10 persons would enter the court to chase a football. Even though the court is smaller, it’s a really fast-paced game.

Our game was pre-booked from 1am to 3am. I was the only one there who came in big, bulky basketball shoes so I knew I was never meant to be here. Apart from that it was like 6 months since I actually kicked a football. So the first match was our starting “nearly-best 5” of pre-france 7 against pre-france 6 seniors. The first to 2 goals wins the match and a swap of teams would occur. When the game started, I was by far really awed at how good their footwork and ball control was.

In comparison, I was definitely the n00b here. Both teams have really amazing players. For instance pre-france 6 seniors have a goalkeeper representing Malaysia. To par with that level, pre-france 7’s goalkeeper is state-level x) After a moment, pre-france 6 reigned victorious easily with 2-0. Then it was another pre-france 7 team to fight against them. However the pre-france 6 remained undefeated.

After that the time came for my “debut”. My team consists of 4 chinese and 1 malay. We were definitely the underdog team and were playing up against pre-france 6 team who had 2 lecturers at pro level. The first round I did extremely badly :( I only intended to play defence as I had really poor control of footwork and football dribbling. I made efforts to run here and there as if I’m trying to get open for the pass. My true intention was to remain invisible though so eventually I would hide behind an opponent to avoid the passes.

Yes, we lost as expected and I utterly embarrassed myself. And yes that’s why I chose basketball because I have greater control over my hands than my legs. The more I watch the other matches, the more I became amazed at how fast they can react with their footwork it’s like they’re dancing. However the winning streak of pre-france 6 was broken in the 3rd rematch and pre-france 7 showed their true potential. I have 2 malay friends who are shorter and smaller than me but you wouldn’t believe how fast and explosive they could play. One of them was a very good playmaker, dribbling the ball towards the goal and then passing it at the right moment so that his teammate could score the goal. They played the 1-2 strategy really well.
->Or proly just because I’m really n00b that I’m giving them too much praise -.-"

But hey if you’re a first timer and tried the sport yourself, you’d then realized how good those guys are and how much practice it would take to acquire those skills. The Malaysian-level goalkeeper showed his skills by blocking goals after goals consecutively with his agile reflexes. So the games were scheduled from 1-3am but we got so “suang” that they decided to extend it to another hour.

I played 4 times during the intervals, each time getting better and better tho I did some stupid things like dribbling the ball until the outline and kicking the ball at my seniors face (ouch!). I kept dashing for defence and managed to deflect a few balls as well as steal some. My friends note me for being speedy. YEAH babeh! >:D

Overall it was enjoyable but extremely tiring. I felt my legs giving in on me when I finished playing the 3rd round. Yea, my legs were about to disobey me. Bad bad hayden legs.
We had to keep running back and forth, as well as left and right a lot. My friends were all drenched in sweat. “wa dude we haven’t finished playing you go bath liaw arh?” when one of my friends looked like he literally came out a swimming pool. x)

We played till 4am and went back after a gg. However we felt hungry and decided to eat at a mamak stall. During then, we were deciding what to do next. We concluded that after eating, we can’t sleep immediately. Another reason to support is that after bathing we can’t sleep immediately either. So how do we pass the time?

DOTA!

Amazingly, we were still energetic with the adrenaline still burning from the futsal matches. We played one round of dota. When we finished it was already 7.30am in the morning. My other roommates (who didn’t go to the futsal match) were sleeping soundly. When I JUST entered bed to sleep, one of my roommates got up. So the hard part is... “good morning” or “good night”? haha.

He usually wakes up at this time just to study (omg even on weekends!). So I slept until saturday 1pm, only to be awakened by the disturbing sounds of rapid mouse-clicks -.-“ I didn’t have any photos to post mainly because I didn’t bother to bring my handphone around so, sorry to those guys who hate reading long posts! >:D

Thanks for reading everyone, have a bonne journée(nice day)!

THE NEW ERAA!!!! E-SPORTS LEAGUE

Been quite some time since i last post, all the exams and stuffs wow man.

Well start off with exams now, really really crazy going with all this, then there's the school concert coming up, then some activities, then THE E-SPORTS LEAGUE!!

Well its still underdevelopment, bringing in teams in from our school to compete, playing in the correct orientation and condition. Here's some info about it,

Playing e-sports, in the good time good place good condition, like got enough lighting etc etc, promoting good gaming with no bad influence, no bad ideas and racism. Improving sportsmanship/gamesmanship between players and spectators alike and

etc etc etc (forgot what to say already)

Well, so far, bringing some games into it, 1st stop is the Defense of the Ancient. next is the WII tennis. Well so far we got these only, now scouting teams into the league for defense of the Ancient. So far got 3 teams up and ready for this, hoping to pull it up to five.

Another thing is, since there's many peeps who's been gaming here, (i mean MANY) im off to post up the results up here xD, going to add the league standings, posting up the replays and i hope ya all can support it and give comments!!

The League going to start off after march, for a period about 2 to 3 months i guess. hope its going to be a big hit xD, bah till next time again, SLAM!
